Process Serving
Process Serving is a little known aspect of Security Services that can cause substantial administrative problems. Specifically, Service of Process is when legal documents such as summonses, complaints, subpoenas, writs and other court documents are delivered to the individual to whom the legal document is directed. The RDTTS legal process server: delivers (or serves) legal documents to defendants or individuals involved in a court case. We service these documents in accordance with the legislation in the area of service. This could mean handing the documents to the defendant personally or sub-serving to someone in the same household or business. Once the documents are delivered, RDTTS Security processors provide proof that the papers were served. This is done through a document call an Affidavit of Service, also called a Proof of Service, which we have notarized and given to the party who requested service. We can also file your papers with the courts, can do document retrieval and may offer various types of investigations: skip trace, people locates, surveillance, etc.
Security Training
Most states require that security officers be licensed. Requirements vary widely but in general our security staff must be at least 18 for unarmed services and 21 years old for Armed assignments, pass a background check and drug test, and complete classroom training in such subjects as property rights, emergency procedures, and detention of suspected criminals.
Although there are no academic requirements for this field, we prefer a two-year associate's degree program for all supervisors and a one-to-two semester certificate program in a criminal justice-related area or similar military services for our Security Officers. Our surveillance officers receive training in a casino-like atmosphere using surveillance camera equipment. Armed security officers receive formal training in areas such as weapons retention and laws covering the use of force. Security officers employed by the federal government must have some experience in the occupation, pass a written examination, and pass firearms and first aid tests to be certified to staff Government contract positions.
All of our training courses are conducted in house or at approved training schools or firearms ranges by Virginia State DCJS certified instructors. No security officer is placed on a client’s location until they have submitted their application to the local state regulatory agency, submitted a finger print card for a State and Federal Criminal Background Check, and attend our mandatory Pre-Assignment Training course, and up to 90 days to complete all State mandated certified training. All security personnel training is maintained in an employee training file for regulatory and client inspection.
When a security officer is assigned to a client’s site, they receive documented On-the-Job Training (OJT) for each site they are approved to work. This training program is most relevant to the security officer's duty requirements of the work site, and the needs of the employer. Our training in this area is completed in an approved classroom setting or at an approved work site which is conducive to learning.
The third required training program is the Annual In-service course. This training must be completed each calendar year following completion of the state required course. This program is designed to exceed all current regulatory training needs and refresh or update security changes within the security field. The security officer must complete this course as a prerequisite for renewal of his or her security officer registration.
Our Armed Security Officers who carry firearms are required to complete a 48 Hour, one of a kind Firearms course consisting of instructor lead classroom, on-line subject matter and firing range verification, before they can be certified as an Armed Security Officer.
Armed security officers must also complete an Annual 8 hour Firearms Training course which includes three hours of classroom refresher on the Use of Force followed by a weapons qualification which includes a proficiency examination. The security officer must complete this course as a prerequisite for renewal of his or her armed security officer registration.

Electronic Surveillance Aids
Interactive systems are the latest technological advance in the security industry and RDTTS is relentless in maintaining state of the art systems. We have enabled our control room operators to monitor hundreds of cameras, or a central station operator to monitor hundred of sites. Our control room operators remotely monitor client properties and through custom designed software, are able to maintain control of multi-camera systems . With modern equipment, we can bring each camera up full screen, control pan/tilt/zoom cameras, control recording, and interact through speakers/microphones with people at restricted entrances. Cameras, microphones and speakers can be placed at a customer's site and connected to a phone line for a dial-up, ISDN, or VOIP, DSL /cable connection (DSL/cable being best). This allows our central operator to interact with people entering, loitering, or leaving a specific area. The operator is essentially a highly-trained "security officer" whose response to any situation is guided by the needs of the customer; monitoring pedestrian entrances, vehicle gates, fast-food restaurants, jewelry stores, convenience markets and other locations which require security but cannot afford to pay an on-site security officer
