Maintenance Mechanic

This position will provide fabrication support to Public Works Facility Sustainment. The following are required skills for the position: · Perform a variety of duties in the following trades: Equipment mechanic, Welder, Machinist, Sheet Metal Mechanic, Plumber, and Pipefitter. · Installs, aligns, repairs and maintains various types of equipment, systems and machinery that utilizes mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic principles i.e. pumps, pressure regulators, engines, hoists, kitchen equipment, etc · Welds a variety of metal parts together, as specified by layout, diagram, work order, or oral instructions, using electric arc, heliarc, or gas welding equipment, · Welds along vertical or overhead weld lines maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead while insuring good penetration. · Sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to make or repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools or machinery. Applies knowledge of mechanics, shop materials, metal properties, and layout machining procedures when manufacturing or repairing equipment. · Fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal products and equipment, such as control boxes, ventilating ducts, drainpipes etc. Sets up and operates fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, bending rolls, and punch and drill presses, to cut, bend and straighten sheet metal. · Maintains, repairs and installs piping and piping systems fixtures, and equipment for steam air and water. Cuts, bends, threads and installs various sizes of pipes and fittings using hand and power tools. Must posses a current valid Florida state driver’s license. Must be able to obtain a security clearance when applicable or required. Frequently handles objects , weighing up to 50 Ibs and occasionally lifting objects weighing over 50 Ib. is required to push, pull, roach, walk, stand crawl, knell, bend, climb and work in awkward positions for sustained periods of time.
